Jerry Spinelli, Princeton Library (Mon. January 23 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm): The award-winning author discusses his new book, “The Warden’s Daughter,” about a motherless 13-year-old girl growing up in an apartment above the entrance of a prison where her father is the warden. The New York Times has called Spinelli “a poet of the prepubescent. . . . No writer guides his young characters, and his readers, past these pitfalls and challenges and toward their futures with more compassion.” Jerry Spinelli is the author of many books for young readers, including Stargirl; Love, Stargirl; Milkweed; Crash; Hokey Pokey; Wringer; and Maniac Magee, winner of the Newbery Medal; along with Knots in My Yo-yo String, his autobiography. To score the extra credit, take a selfie of your self at the event and come to class prepared to share your thoughts about the author/event. Click link for more info.
